SONG 1: OVERTURE

OVERTURE

What has been may be again: another Homer, & another Virgil, may possibly arise from those very causes which produced the first
John Dryden

***

It’s the return of the Damo
That’s my name, yo!
See I’m back & acting the same
Y’all miss’d me
I’ve been wand’rin’ the streets
Hittin’ on beats hunting treats
That’ll funk up mi disco
It’s a party so lets go
All the cats who’ve been bangin’ to techno
Let go, there’s a fresh way to dance
Making old-fashion’d moves in yer groovy new pants

Oo-ah, let’s dance like nineteen seventy-five
Oo-ah, girls don yer make-up & shape up
Oo-ah, let’s dance like nineteen seventy-nine
Oo-ah, its time to shake up & wake up

To the T to the I to the N-K-Y
To the D to the I to the S-C-O
To the T to the I to the N-K-Y
To the, to the, to the – HIT IT DAMO

Cos Im back & I’m whack
& I’m always bouncing back the attack
Cos its all about feeling
Not the daily lives the bankers are stealin’

Psyche up for the twenty-first century
Men & women are the same
It started with a terror plane
That went off with a bang
But now I’ve got my freedom in
I cannot help but reasoning
Disco sang of better days
We’re gonna spin that shit again

Its the return of the hindsight
It’s a gunfight
Whether you be a man, woman or transvestite
We’re one Human Race, sharing one space
On the face of a phantom beauty
But that’s in jeopardy
Socialise, realise for the remedy
Energy, there’s a new way to act
Deconstruct the Transvaal, the cabal counteract

Oo-ah, let’s dance like nineteen seventy-five
Oo-ah, girls don yer make-up & shape up
Oo-ah, let’s dance like nineteen seventy-nine
Oo-ah, its time to shake up & wake up

To the T to the I to the N-K-Y
To the D to the I to the S-C-O
To the T to the I to the N-K-Y
To the, to the, to the – HIT IT DAMO

Psyche up for the twenty-first century
Men & women are the same
It started with a terror plane
That went off with a bang
But now I’ve got my freedom in
I cannot help but reasoning
Disco sang of better days
We’re gonna live those days again

Don’t forget those kick-ass basslines…

I’m the Dee Double Bee, that’s me,
I aint your normal form of MC
I’m a true groovebuster Voodoo Chile
Tryin’ to make the isle of Jamaica smile

& the way she plays in the glade
Sippin’ white wines & lemonade
Electric spritzer fits her poise
Rip it up Al, lets make some noise

We’re Scotland’s top hip-hop outfit
Lyrical bandit doing my bit
Musical genius jamming geetah
Here’s the New Truth wherever you are

SONG 2: LOVE THE PLANET

LOVE THE PLANET

The power which has increased therefore is the power of the rich. The name and office of king is merely the mask of this power, and is a kind of stalking-horse used to conceal these ‘catchers of men’, whilst they lay their nets.
PB Shelley

***

Drowning islands, blood red diamonds
Sniper silence, it’s all the same
Sighing Parthenon, dying Amazon
She cryin’ now she gone, we’re all to blame

Love the planet (save her)
Love the planet
She the only one we got

Children’s hunger pang, dead orangatang
We’ll go off with a bang, still in our youth
God got no halo, she lyin’ down below
Mother Gaia know the simple truth

Love the planet (save her)
Love the planet
She the only one we got x 3

Many people fear we must dissapear
(Melt away) Like a candle
Look upon the earth calculate its worth
(Everyday) it’s a scandal

Love the planet (save her)
Love the planet
She the only one we got
We gotta save her
She the only one we got
Who is the bravest
She the only one we got
To be our saviours
She the only one we got…

SONG 3: DIRTY NEEDLES

DIRTY NEEDLES

That which has arisen bravely from the pit
Can conquer half the globe
With a pitiless destiny,
But return it must to the abyss
Goethe

Well I walked all over the country
& I wallow’d in the pain
I watch’d the taxi drivers
As they waited in the rain
Saying, “nobody goes anywhere
The country’s gone insane
But please don’t pity me
I’ve fatten’d up on vitamins
Don’t need no dirty needle in my arm
It’s gonna do me harm.”

So I took a walk thru’ Manchester
Tears fallin’ from the top
Saw the shadow of Westminster
Fall upon the hangman’s drop
But the people all assembl’d
In Saint Peter’s Square said,
“Stop! No please don’t pity us
We’re about to be victorious
Destiny & Liberty entwine
Since the dawn of time.”

Well I climb’d the peak of Arthur’s Seat
I looked down on Holyrood
The Parliament & Palace
Did stramash in open feud
The queen commands, “don’t break your oath
Your treason’s rather crude
But please don’t pity them
Each citizen is sovereign
Don’t need no dirty needle in their arm
Its gonna do them harm.”

SONG 4: INTELLECTUALIZE

INTELLECTUALIZE

I know where I’m going and I know the truth, and I don’t have to be what you want me to be. I’m free to be what I want.
Muhammad Ali

***

State intrusion

Talkin’ ’bout
Air pollution
Destitution,
Persecution

Talkin’ ’bout
Retribution
Execution
REVOLUTION!

Talkin’ ’bout
Child abduction
Job obstruction
Land reduction

Talkin’ ’bout
Liposuction
Dream seduction,
Deconstruction

Talkin’ ’bout
Oil extraction

Thought distraction
LETS TAKE ACTION!

You want it
We got it
We gonna set the world alight
You want it
Big up the truth tonight

Intellectualize

I see, I feel
This shit aint real
Intellectualize

Tinder,
Facebook
Who gives a fuck
Everyone’s a star

Instagram,
Twittersphere
Get me outta here
Ya gotta intellectualize

Wasting time
Losing sleep
We’re all user sheep
To the micro screen
Brainwash
Social control
They’ve gone & caught you all
You gotta intellectualize

I see, I feel
This shit aint real
Intellectualize

You want it
We got it
We got it & its watertight
You want it
We got it
We got the truth tonight

I see, I feel
This shit aint real
Intellectualize

SONG 5: SHANGRI-LA

SHANGRI-LA

Taste, beauty & emotion are in Calcutta too
But they can’t touch the fossilized mind of slum dwellers
Shivaprasas Samaddaresewd

I’m gonna buy myself an island
I’m gonna plant me my standard there
I’m gonna claim it for my country
As I build my country there

I’m gonna buy myself an island
I’m gonna build me my palace there
I’m gonna fill the pool with diamonds
Fountain rosemilk everywhere

Following the eastern star
Sailing to the shores of Shangri-La
You don’t have to travel far
To find out the star you are

I’m gonna buy myself an island
I’m gonna build me my prison there
I’m gonna chain the native wisemen up
In mucky dungeon’s air

I’m gonna buy myself an island
I’m gonna build me my harem there
I’m gonna bed the native beauties
Scatter rubies thro’ the air

Following the eastern star
Sailing to the shores of Shangri-La
You don’t have to travel far
To find out the star you are

I’m gonna buy myself an island
I’m gonna build me a harbour there
I’m gonna send a boat for all my friends
This paradise to share….

23: The Common Goal

THE COMMON GOAL

What shall it be, this miracle of ours,
When shaking off the shackles of evil,
Transparency in government a must!
Letting Vision mulitiply by fibres,
We shall copy most successful models
From each Earth culture, them together weave
Into thick thread spun by Our Common Goal,
Invest in think tanks, clever plebiscites
Invigorate ideas, unified,
Godsent, terrestrial federation;
Good food & shelter guaranteed for all,
Important planetary decisions
By congress’d ecowarriors moulded,
Not TNCs thinking they law transcend,
Marshalling Earth’s fabulous resources,
The bounties of Nature tamed by Science,
The benefit of all, without burden,
Let coalfields sleep, gas bubble undisturb’d,
Let solar panels power all our needs,
Deglobalising manufacturing
Gives work to all & thus reduces freight,
Slashing emissions til them next to naught,
Then Earth resets, preserves the velvet verve
& beauty of this unique sphere of ours.
